First Meeting of the 2015/2016 Year

OCTOBER 8, 2015 2-3PM

Shiloh Road Church of Christ

We have a new name. We have a new format. We have a new meeting time. Now all we need is you!

Look around! Assess the situation!
The TACHE Health and Safety Club (formerly Red Cross Club of TACHE) kicks off its new year with a CPR demonstration by Randy Plaza! If you haven’t experienced CPR with Randy, you are in for a treat. If you have, I guess you are already planning to attend Thursday. ~grin~   Randy’s excitement and simple, fun approach make his demonstration accessible for children of all ages.

YOU!! Call 9-1-1

This month’s theme is CPR and First Aid. After the CPR demonstration, we will offer a ‘Make It, Take It’ project, a ‘Try It’ experience, and some Take Home materials. Allergy safe snacks will be available and a door prize is offered.

Staying Alive! Staying Alive!

Join us from 2-3 pm at Shiloh Road Church of Christ, Thursday, October 8.

We will meet in the main building, so please look for signs to direct you to the correct room.

Appreciating Their Service

We attended an unusual birthday party last Saturday. The birthday girl, my 12 year old niece, is very interested in Emergency related professions. They live across the street from a fire station, and decided that a tour of the station would be a great birthday party.

It was so much fun!! About 15 of us (adults and children) walked to the station and the firefighters took time to show us every detail of the trucks. They discussed their training, explained how and when tools would be used, and patiently answered a slew of questions. We left with a sincere appreciation for these men and the work they do.

I did not know that individuals or families could get a tour of their local fire station. My sister just took a chance and called to ask. I highly recommend getting a few friends or family together and visiting your local station. Let them know you appreciate their service! We signed a card for them and took a cake over – I bet your firemen wouldn’t mind a little token like that either!

Introducing the Health and Safety Club of TACHE

We are not newcomers to this local homeschool community, but we have a new look, a new vision, and an exciting new future. We hope you will be a part of that future!

The TACHE Health and Safety Club began 3 years ago as the Homeschool Red Cross Club of TACHE. We have had a great experience with the local Red Cross organization and have been very appreciative of their help and support. However, our club has changed with time, and we found that we needed to move out from under the Red Cross umbrella. We are still affiliated with TACHE, but are now an independent homeschool club.

Moving away from the Red Cross is not our only change. We are meeting in a different location, having meetings at a different time, and you will see a completely different format in our meetings. We are so excited about these changes!

This year we will be meeting at the Shiloh Road Church of Christ. Last year, parking was a serious issue for our Red Cross Members. Shiloh Road Church has plenty of parking, is centrally located, and familiar to many homeschoolers since the building is used for many TACHE related events.

We will meet from 2-3 pm on Thursday afternoons. We heard from so many homeschooling families that having Red Cross in the morning interfered with school time. The shorter meeting length will be easier for small children and the entire time will be filled with the presentation and activities.

We will only have 4 meetings each year so we are able to focus on the most important topics and allow more time for preparation. Each meeting will have a presentation and related activities for all age groups.

Join us for our first event of the 2015-2016 school year on Thursday, October 8 at 2 pm at Shiloh Road Church of Christ.
